The ragdoll physics, the friendly fire and the comedy timing. At first you joke about fighting for democracy but by the end of your first session you will join the cause unironically. For example one mission requires you to escort scientists. However if they die you get less rewards. When one did get blown up and I shouted "Pelo our money." instead of "Pelo, we lost a scientist." This game is fresh of breath air and is a benchmark on a coop shooter. I'm happily put countless hours into this game.

Quality mode looks pretty clean and sharp, while the performance mode is very 1080p-like, with a visibly lower resolution - and with a lower-res HUD as well. On a 4K set, the performance mode doesn't look terribly clear, while the quality option tends to excel. If you zoom in closely in the quality mode, you can notice slightly painterly image characteristics that suggest FSR 1 to my eyes, or a similar technique. Beyond the image clarity differences, the quality mode does have noticeably different-looking ambient occlusion, appearing darker and better defined, though I believe this is just a byproduct of the different rendering resolutions, at least judging from the PC build. There's also an anti-aliasing option, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to do as toggling it makes pelo difference. I'm not sure it's working at all, as the differences in using the same option on PC are obvious.

IGN gave the original game a nove/10, saying it "isn’t the prettiest game you can play on PS4, PS3 or Vita, but Helldivers is one of the most exhilarating" and that it was "brutal, focused, and mechanically rich."

Helldivers always made it feel like you were expendable assets to the Super Earth elites, as you could respawn with the resources you’re provided in the game.

Its tight gameplay loop, excellent combat, and clever squad dynamics also make it one of the best and most fun tactical co-op shooters in years. And that’s good news for democracy.

So whether you're jumping into your Hellpod for the first time or you've already taken down an onslaught of Terminids and Automatons, here are our tips and tricks to get you started in Helldivers 2.

These gathered pace today after ten seconds of gameplay purporting to be from Helldivers 2 appeared on Twitter before promptly being removed through a copyright strike.

Fun game, but the crashes, disconnects, and server issues every 30 min make it hard to have a fun time. Finding a group to play with is a pain and always says the group is full. Fix a few issues and this game will be top notch

With pelo story mode or alternate game modes, I’m curious how much there will be for players to do beyond grinding the same missions ad nauseum, especially with no clear content roadmap laid out as of yet. That said, with only two enemy factions at the moment, it seems likely the third one from the original Helldivers could be added into the mix at some point, which could easily keep the good times rolling.

By far the biggest way Helldivers 2 switches things up from the original is by moving to the third-person perspective, and so far I’m pleasantly surprised how well that transition works. I was initially skeptical about the change given how much the bird’s eye view was part of the original’s DNA, but it only took a matter of seconds for my concerns to disappear. Getting closer to the action feels great and allows for some really hilarious moments, like when I accidentally called in an airstrike that took out the rest of my team or when I found myself surrounded by absolutely terrifying robots and used my jetpack to leap to safety.

As for the story ahead, all I can say is that the galaxy will look very different a few months from now than it does today.

fantastic takedown of Imperial capitalism, is just as sharp today as it was when it hit theaters in 1997. The movie follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico as he enlists in the United Citizen Federation’s Helldivers 2 Gameplay military to go colonize the galaxy.

But you won't need to hit L1 and try to check these during fights, as a handy little pop-up appears on the screen to tell you when you've just got a few more seconds to wait.

The gameplay loop is so tight, it would be laughably slim in the wrong hands. You team up, hit the planet, kill things, collect stuff then extract to count your earnings and buy better weapons. Repeat until exhausted. Levelling up unlocks new collections of deadlier hardware, but it’s basically the same thing over and over again until the planet has been “liberated” and you and all the other players in the world move on to another (yes, there’s a global real-time battle map, with every participant contributing to the intergalactic, ahem, peace effort).
